I recently discovered this Asian fruit. It's very similar to a grapefruit, but sweeter and not quite as bitter and it is very juicy. It's called a Pomelo. At first I thought it was a Mexican fruit because of how it was displayed in the grocery store, but I was mistaken. I couldn't believe its size! When I looked it up, one site claimed they can get as large as a basketball...imagine! They are quite tasty (if you like grapefruit). They are rather difficult to peel because they have such a thick, spongy rind, so cutting through the membranes and slicing off the pithy areas works best. I love winter citrus...oranges, lemons, tangelos, and now pomelos...I tend to discover new things that people have known about forever, so this may not be news to you, but I was pretty excited. One can never get enough vitamin C in the winter months. Oh, and about the lemon in your water at restaurants...check this out. Perhaps it is best to add lemon to your water when you are home!
Sidenote on Homeless Project: Earl and I keep missing each other, but I now have a contact (via Craig's list) in TN helping me locate his family and she seems to think we are close. I've been told he is communicating better. I've made Valentine's Day our goal to get him home and I have his traveling expenses covered (he just doesn't know it yet). Yesterday everyone was subdued, they lost one of their own to alcohol poisoning and it was a shocker for me. Her name was Rose and when I first met her I noticed she didn't look like any of the others. Her face was not weathered and her teeth were taken care of...she was in fact a very beautiful lady. She became depressed at Christmas and began drinking, didn't stop and died on Monday. Sad story. A wasted life, and everyone will shuffle around and continue to drink. I despise alcohol, but more than anything...I wish humans weren't so weak.

YUK on the lemons! I'm glad you posted the article as I was wondering when you mentioned it before.
It would SUCH a blessing if Earl really got to go home to a loving family. You're such a dear! So very sad, very, very sad about Rose. I hate alcohol with a passion; it's more deadly than some people think.
I bought some wonderful navel oranges today.....mmmmmm were they ever good! I can't wait for breakfast to have another one!
I'm sorry about your friend Rose. Our daughter is in treatment, working on her alcohol addiction, and I'm praying it works for her. So sad to die in such a way.
Hope the lead on Earl's family works out. Wouldn't that be great if he could be home for Valentine's Day?
Blessings, my friend.

What awful news about that lady! Alcohol is not an evil thing, but it can be abused if someone is determined.
I do hope that Earl has a happy homecoming soon! Bless you for all of your efforts!
Great news about possibly finding Earl's family! But such sad news about Rose.
Oh my goodness, how tragic. I second your opinion on the alcohol and what it does to good people. I sure hope things work out for Earl, thank you for the update and be sure to keep us posted!!!
The fruit does look really good, I will check and see if we have it here!
ABOUT Grapefruit...you are probably not old enough (and too healthy) to be on any regular medication, but often grapefruits interact with medication..!! I know it is weird, but true. And very annoying if you happen to like them, like me.
Sorry to be such a bearer of bad news...guess it would be only if you were having them regularly in your diet, eg every morning...
interesting about the lemons...makes one want to just eat everything at home, doesn't it?
;-)

Okay. Yuk on the lemon. Who knew? Well obviously you did. :)
Rooster's pool in Cebu is shaped like a mango.
God bless you for what you are doing for Earl and I hope a happy ending is right around the corner!
Alcohol. I hate what it does. I'm so sorry about Rose. It's so sad.

I love grapefruit so I bet I would love these. So sorry about Rose, I've seen what acohol can do to some people. And I pray Earl finds his family by Valentine's Day.
I love all of it. I love things made with lemon especially. I have a great lemon bar recipe I should share on my blog. Because it would rock your socks off.
Sending love, Nita
Oh I am so happy you are getting close to finding Earl's family. What an angel you are! God is watching you Joni.
I am so sorry to hear about the lady that drank herself to death. My Father was an alcoholic as is my oldest brother. It is a horrible thing. My Father became an alcoholic after he came back from WWII. If anyone has a reason i guess I can say he did but you are so right...people are weak and should turn to God and not the bottle.
I love grapefruit and no I did not know of this fruit but I will be looking for it now!
Hugs and good luck on the search for Earl's family. I will say a prayer.
