I woke up late this morning.
The shower head fell off during my shower.
I took the wrong completed homework to school.
The 10-page journal article I printed out will no longer apply toward an assignment (a waste of ink).
The dog is out of food.
My sink is full of dishes.
...and the only thing I can think about is this Albert Einstein quote staring at me from a textbook.
Out of clutter, find simplicity.
From discord, find harmony.I am genuinely laughing at my day and so thankful I might get another try at it tomorrow.
My weekend was fantastic. I stayed with my downtown friends on Friday as long as I could before I drove to pick up Erik. They were all surprisingly clear-headed. After I served their food we sat around and talked and I learned a little more about some of them. Interestingly, a woman pulled up in the parking lot while we were all visiting and she got out of her car, opened her trunk and yelled out, "I'll need you to line up here if you want food." Some went even though they had just been fed. I found out they would be saving it for later, because that's what they do, not knowing when their next meal might be. As I sat and observed I realized how lucky I was. Here was a lady being kind and generous, but she'll never know what she's missing out on by having them line up to get handouts. She'll never hear their stories and she'll never get to tell them what an honor it is to serve them when they reach out their hand as a token of appreciation for remembering their name or for bringing a food item they requested. It really is a blessing to serve these people and I wish I could convey the atmosphere, but every word I can think of doesn't serve it appropriately...it is an atmosphere of mutual respect, genuine concern and I just know God is present during these times...but there is no language to capture what I feel when they smile and look me in the eyes.
My weekend with Erik was just as rewarding. I've never had so much fun doing a mountain of laundry and it's so nice getting caught up on the day-to-day happenings. I experienced my first cup of Hibiscus Tea and we went out for Thai food on Sunday...there's just always something new to experience when he's around. I also managed to make Pumpkin Butter, Chocolate Chip cookies and a pan of enchiladas for him to take back with him...it was a busy, but ENJOYABLE weekend!
No wonder my Monday has been off balance...I haven't caught up with myself yet.

I love this! I can certainly identify with your Monday! My brain wasn't quite connected all day yesterday either. I'm glad you had such a wonderful weekend.
Your weekend sounds like many of my weekends. Hope you catch up with yourself and have a great week.
Sounds like you had a very rewarding weekend and a hectic Monday. It's Tuesday now, you get to start all over! :-)
Wonderful weekend story... and wonderful Monday story too. Take a deep breath and draw back in some of that weekend air. Hold it for a few seconds and then let it back out to enjoy the next time. :)
Sometimes we need the bad days to remind us how much we appreciate the good ones, LOL. You get to start all over today - clean slate!
You are truly blessed.
oh man....that sounds like one of my days lately.....and all you CAN do is just chuckle and hope the rest of the week doesn't go the same!!!!!

You always seem to be able to make sweet lemonade no matter what. I agree about the other lady bringing food; while that's very nice, she is missing out. But, I know it's rewarding for you knowing your friends have something to eat the next day. ((HUGS))
Who can care what your Monday is like when you had such a fantastic weekend. I am so glad you got to spend time with your son and enjoyed those special seconds with him. I am sure the time flew by, and was gone all too quickly. But soon he will be home again with you having more memories to make and new ones to share. Have a great week the rest of the week!
Don't we all have days like this. Hang in there.
You caught the blessing out of the trials..So many miss it. Something beautiful can come out of the worst of days.
xoxo Nita
Oh, your last line had me laughing out loud! "haven't caught up with myself". Fantastic.
I'm so happy you had such a wonderful weekend, Joni. I'll look forward to those same ones with David when he comes back to visit. Quality time....
