These are crazy days.
Accompanying the daily routine lately, I have been busy gathering up things like a squirrel getting ready for winter. I have TWO children leaving home for college and I'm trying to keep myself occupied so I don't have too much time to think about it and it's not working very well.

I have a storage tote that I have been adding stuff to for awhile with all the basic household supplies. There are still so many things I need to get, but other than the typical salt, pepper, flour, sugar, foil, dish soap, etc. what are some things every kid needs (in the kitchen) to start out with? Give me some ideas that might be on the unusual side! This could be fun and chances are you will have a suggestion I have completely overlooked.

Two at one time! Oh, Joni...busy one you are. I remember when David went. I had lists of lists! Just keep in mind, if you do forget something, they can get it! LOL
Of course, I was the same way. My main thing was making sure his computer was hooked up before I left him there. I had to have communication daily!! I instant messaged him like crazy :)
Will they be close enough to visit often?
((Big hugs))
Oh wow - it's been so long since my daughter went to college, and now you've got TWO leaving.
I can't think of anything unusual unless it would cleaning supplies. hahaha
Take care, and have a great weekend. :)
Pad and pen....bottle opener...bug spray...spray deoderizer...trash can & bags...ice trays...ziploc bags...Lysol spray...teflon scrub pad...paper plates...hand mixer...wooden spoons...knives...kitchen shears...plates & utensils...chip bag closer clamps...fridge magnets...a dry erase board for the fridge in case they have a roomate and wants to leave a quick note...light bulbs...batteries...flashlight....

Trash baskets w/bags
coupons for takeout food!
Oh, so close! That's just far enough to be "away from home" and both together is wonderful :)
Another question? How many orange photos do we post that day? Can you tell I'm not with it lately LOL?
Can it be? Do my eyes deceive me? Is it even conceivable that our Darling Joni, Queen of the Java Jungle has made no mention of any of the wonderful world of coffee and/or the plethora of coffee preparation and enjoyment accouterments? How, pray tell, are they to survive without the most basic of survival necessities? My world as previously known is dissolving before me! [big stupid grin]
My Heart is with You... and them.
Forget the cleaning supplies... after four kids in college I didn't see one clean dorm room or apartment. And the sororities and fraternities were just as bad. Let's see what did I see the most of?
Romen noodles - lots and lots
Bottled water
gift cards to fast food places
salsa.. it goes with everything
One of those little grills - I gave them to all the guys that graduated with my son and they all used them to make grilled cheese of grilled sandwiches.... hmmm... that's all I can think of...
If they have a fridge give them cookie dough in a tube.
looks like you have gotten lots and lots of ideas.....they have the internet and phones....so good there.....recipes so they know how to make some of their favorite dishes! :) or their mom's dishes! such an exciting and yet bittersweet time....but it is all good!
hugs to you dear joni....have been helping jessamyn get ready for asher's big 4th bday tomorrow....it still hasn't stopped! :)

WOW! thanks for all the great suggestions...some of them I hadn't actually thought of! I've added quite a few things to my list and some of your ideas spawned others...that tote will be full very soon!
Wow, you are really busy! I'll be doing the same next year for my daughter. You're such a good mom, I'm sure they'll have everything they need.
About lesson plans, yes i've been getting some really exciting ideas and have a jillion notes that I need to consolidate into something legible. Our classes this week have been really helpful.
