imagine that

I always marvel at nature and for some reason I have been particularly awestruck with the pine cone this week. Don’t laugh…I’ve never stopped to really think about the stages of a pine cone before and yet here I found myself at school beneath a pine cone tree with the most inquisitive look on my face. I stood and stared in disbelief…Could it be possible that I have lived 43 years without ever having noticed what they look like before they fall on the ground? Now I’ll admit I have a tendency to be naive about some things, but I never thought that would include nature…now be honest, did you know how pine cones form?
Look at these pictures…
are you as fascinated as I am?

Each little pod is filled with a soft pollen-like
material that crumbles at the slightest touch.
Pictures are just to illustrate the fragility.

Isn't Mother Nature amazing?

I live in Oregon where there are pine trees all over the place. They are the most beautiful when they are growing new pine cones. I love them and I love these pictures.

Thanks for sharing
Patti

Dearest Joni ... If it is true that "There are none so blind as they who would not see," then, most certainly, it would hold true that ... There are none with such vision as they who are willing to see.

I do relish and cherish that "Visionary" in you. And thank you for sharing your vision with Me.

I love You.

Joni, I do believe these blogs serve a purpose. I am starting to see and feel things I have never even contemplated. I so understand your post today.

The pictures are beautiful! The only thing I can add is how STICKY the pollen is when it lands on cars! :)

Creation is the most wonderful thing, it's like a living breathing organism, each part so dependent on another part - who'd have thought the air we breath is so dependent upon say trees? "Upholding all things by His Word".

I love pine cones too, when it is autumn we collect all kinds of leaves and seeds. I couldn't tell you anything about their development though.

Just googled pine cones did you know the crumbly one is a 'male pine cone'? Lol. Here:

Isnt funny how we take thing's for granted, how they become, one of the marvoulus works God has created for us to enjoy....I am very, very guilty of that, Thanks for reminding me not to take something's big or small for granted. Love Nettie

Pine cones are some of my very favorite things. I never knew what they looked like while they were still being formed. Thank you for your photographs.
