Tuesday's Treasure

This is a stained glass picture of a hummingbird that I have in the front window of my house. Several years ago my parents went to Washington on vacation to see my Uncle and the entire two weeks they were there my dad said he and his brother spent most of their time out in my Uncle’s workshop making this stained glass for me as well as other articles that my dad brought home. When I look at it I marvel at the craftsmanship, but I am also touched that two brothers were able to bond after not seeing each other for so long. When I look through the colors of glass to the outside it makes me think about how many perspectives can be drawn from one instance. I think about how important it is to keep an open mind about our own opinions. We never know when we can learn something very valuable from someone else. I also think about what that vacation must have meant for my dad, because it would be the last time he would spend time with his brother. Of all things treasured, time spent with a loved one is most precious of all.
