Letter To My Daughter

It seems like yesterday when you were just a baby and here you are turning 18. The time has gone so quickly and it is amazing to watch you blossom into your own person. I can feel that there are great things in store for you and it is a joy to see how you interact with the world. Your outlook on life amazes me...your compassion amazes me...your faith amazes me. You have this knack for attracting goodness and I hope it stays that way. When you are around nothing is dull. I hope you can manage to always hang on to that enthusiasm. I hope that you always celebrate small things and that you always appreciate diversity in the big things. May the world never get so large that you cannot find where you make a difference. I absolutely adore your passion, but I hope from time to time you stop and reflect on who you are on the inside. It would be nice if we had a built-in compass that kept us on track with our goals in life, but since we don't, it is important to take a step back and look at the bigger picture. I wish for you patience in getting to wherever it is you are going. Remember that all good things are worth the wait. I hope that you always have the drive to get all of your questions answered. I hope you never lose that sense of fairness and that you can always identify when people are real and when they are not. I wish for you fun in life and if it is meant for you to have children then I hope you remember the importance of taking time out to do silly things....not illegal things, just silly things....not everyone needs their own traffic cone or street sign! I hope you keep your sense of adventure and your spontaneity. You never know who is relying on it to make their day. Of course you know what a blessing you are and how much you are loved, but you truly are an answered prayer. You and your brother have filled my life with joy, something that no words qualify to describe.
