My sweet friend Annette shared some of her addictions so I am sharing some of mine: Addiction may not be the appropriate word...maybe habit...but when does a habit become an addiction? Well the first one, you have me hands down. It's an addiction. I can function without caffeine, but you wouldn't want to be around...
Five things I am "addicted" to...
Coffee: I start every morning with a cup of coffee. My very favorite is Peet's "Major Dickason's Blend." I really like trying different kinds of coffee from all over the world. I prefer to grind my coffee beans right before they are used and I like the coffee smells that come out of the kitchen, but my favorite thing is sitting with my cup of coffee early in the morning when I do my writing and it always accompanies me when I blog, thus the name "Morning Coffee." My days just aren't the same when I haven't had my coffee!
Hair Up: The first thing I do when I get home from anywhere is put my hair up. I cannot cook or clean with my hair down, it drives me crazy. Shoes come off, hair goes up, then I'm ready....and I love those little hair sticks, they are so simple and versatile.
Writing: I have to write everyday. I have programmed myself to cut out a few minutes to get a few words down on the page. If I don't write, the words and ideas get backed up in my head. Between journaling, pretending to write a book and tinkering with poetry I never run out of things to focus on...the problem is I am not very organized and some work gets shelved unintentionally. For me, writing helps clear the mind and allows me to look back and see how far I've come. It 's a daily must do.
Kids: I have a deep need to stay connected to my children. They are at the core of all emotions I feel and I have to know how they are doing. I need to hear their voices, their laughter, their ideas and dreams to know all is right with the world. I love learning how they are contributing to things greater than themselves and what crazy ideas they have dreamt up to fulfill their own purpose in life. I get a great deal of inspiration from my kids, they keep me grounded and youthful. They inspire me to be better at being a human being and they are both exemplary examples of walking in faith. We are very close and I thrive on the relationships we have developed. I would be incredibly lonely without them, they truly are the wind beneath my sail.
Music: Whether I am cleaning house, cooking or just relaxing, I most usually have some sort of music playing. The kids recently introduced Pandora to me and I love it. The Internet is amazing!

Well, there they are... five things that reaffirm my life is very ordinary...plain and simple...and I'm finally learning to like it that way!

Thanks for stopping by my blog, and for the kind words. I'm glad to hear that sometimes things work out, even if not in every way we hope. I'm trying to stay optimistic. Have a great day!
Wonderful addictions! I wish all of mine were that great.
Good for you - very interesting. I love reading what my friends aspire to, or are addicted to, or habits. The kids, I certainly agree, and it sounds as though yours are very, very special. I love to write also even though some days are too crowded, and trying to keep it in my head; well, let's just say it's like flowing in and right back out! :)
Have a great week!
