My treasure today is simple and often goes unappreciated by most.
Yes, that’s a rock you are looking at, but not just ANY rock, this "perfect" rock caught the eye of a 21-year-old boy on a beach in Mexico and he thoughtfully tucked it away in his backpack as a souvenir chosen just for his mom…ME! When Erik goes on trips he always brings me back a rock from where he’s been. When the kids were little we always examined rocks and marveled at the unique shapes and properties.
They’ve become somewhat sentimental to me…
On one particular backpack trip Erik went on when he was younger, he returned home looking like he had been through the wringer…he was exhausted and I could tell he had struggled with this outing…and then he unpacked his backpack and produced a rock he insisted on carrying back to me…it had to weigh 10 lbs. and when he handed it to me my eyes filled at the length he went to bring me back a memento from where he had been.
I’ve often displayed them in a pretty bowl on the coffee table, but currently they are on display in this wall hanging, except the BIG ONE…it’s out in the garden! All of these rocks are a reminder of days spent doing little things with the kids…turning over leaves together to see what’s under them and looking at the various formations of nature to be found in trees, seashells, rocks…if you have little ones around, enjoy these moments…they are priceless and gone too fast, but sure to be moments you’ll always treasure.

Erik is a special one...
This is a beautiful post and I love the way you displayed the rocks. My son brings me seashells because he knows how much I love them. When he was younger, we had wonderful care-free days at the beach :)
My Mom and I used to exchange rocks it seemed! I had them in yard, changed mind, she had them and then she passed away and I just HAD to go over and bring all the rocks back here. I haven't done anything with them yet, but I will.
Rocks, flowers, seashells...
Nature's bonds of love.
Beautiful in its simplicity.
My little one loves to collect rocks and stones, she sees beauty where I just can't see it...which paradoxically I find beautiful.
One of my favorite bible references is to the "foolishness of preaching." And in another, those who are charged with carrying on this "foolishness" are told that if they fail in their assigned task "the rocks will declare the glory of the Almighty."
Your collection is most eloquent in this undertaking!
I love You! (I said it, the rocks can take a break on this one [smile])
