My Tuesday’s Treasure is being shared through the question my dear, sweet friend Phyllis asked ~
“Show me your favorite piece of jewelry and tell me why”.
I must say, this is a tough one for me. I don’t wear jewelry on a regular basis, but I have two pieces that I couldn't decide which is my favorite so you get both. ~
One is a ring given to me by my mother. It is an exact re-creation of a ring she wore the entire time I was growing up and it is her birthstone-aquamarine, although it is difficult to tell because this isn't a very clear picture. She likes white gold and I like yellow gold, so she had the jeweler melt it down and recast the setting in its original design with gem and all, only in yellow gold, and she gave it to me for Mother’s day many years ago.
My second favorite piece of jewelry is my gold cross. Not only is it the obvious nature of what it stands for that I cherish it, but because the reality of what it has done and the lessons I have learned while wearing it. To give you a brief synopsis of one event that took place a few years ago I will tell you I was in a situation where my Christian faith was in the minority and to avoid the mockery that was taking place I discreetly tucked my cross beneath the neckline of my sweater and over the next few days I struggled with having done this and then a short time later I realized I had lost my necklace and you can imagine the things going through my mind. I looked and looked for about three months and I prayed about it and I wept about the incident leading up to my losing it and finally I resolved that it was gone and I prayed the person finding it would need Jesus in their life and they would recognize it as a sign and wear it regardless of what others thought or said…then I found it…in a place I had already looked a bajillion times. I can’t quite explain how this incident changed me, but it did and I think you’ll agree some treasures are felt in the heart…very, very deep in the heart.

What beautiful stories to go with beautiful jewelry. I think the stories and memories behind our material items are what really make them treasures. Hope you enjoy your day.
