My daughter...my sweet, radical, fun-loving, random girl....she makes me laugh and she makes me cry. As I ready my heart for Erik to step out into the world she enthusiastically makes plans for herself that I am not prepared for...quite yet. She wants to leave in the Fall to attend a Junior College 4 hours away and although many things have to fit together before it would be feasible, she is pretty driven in her determination. I admire her independence and I do understand how stifling our hometown can feel, but I tend to side with practicality knowing that she would be financially better off (as we all would be) if she attended our own Junior College and then explore her options for a four-year school. I just don't think having two birds fly away at once is part of this parenting deal. Don't they have to wait their turn?

seems there are no rules, joni.....and when these young adults get something in their hearts and strong minds.....they aren't easily swayed! :)
i also remember being that way myself! i'm much more practical now than then....although i still have that side to me today!
have a wonderful day....give some sweet care to those heartstrings

When I was planning to go to University I was so desperate to fly the nest and live away from home...my homelife was wonderful but I just wanted to see what else was out there in that big wide world. I hope my own children want to stay nearer home though, it is cheaper and less complicated but I understand why children want to spread their wings a bit.

Oh ouch. Two leaving at once. That does seem like too much to handle.
Gorgeous picture.
