The Bet

Good morning! It feels so fresh outside this morning. Has it been like this all week? I haven't slowed down enough to notice. I remember one day wearing a light sweater to school just to take the morning chill off and then by mid-afternoon I was pulling it off wondering "What was I thinking?" I think Fall is a very entertaining time to watch people. Everyone is so confused. There are those who hang on to the last threads of summer and wear very little and then there are those who are encouraging the cooler weather by dressing in their winter attire. In any given place you can easily spot the confusion and that's where you'll find me, smack dab in the middle. I think tomorrow I'll wear snow boots just to see if anyone notices. Last week I bet Kristin she couldn't go unnoticed coming into the house late at night. While haggling over the stakes, one of the "proposals" made by Erik, was that if I lost I would have to wear a chicken suit to Dr. Wolf's class. There are several things you must know here: 1) Kristin is like a bull in a china shop. She has never been successful at "being sneaky". 2) I wake up at the slightest noise. 3) Well, there really isn't a #3, but it's safe to say that I was feeling pretty certain about the outcome of this bet. We did however, move away from the chicken suit idea because Dr. Wolf is a miserable soul and I didn't want to be responsible for a potentially fatal uprise in blood pressure. We settled on something similar with the kids being allowed to shanghei me in the middle of the night and taking me out somewhere like Denny's dressed in whatever they came up with. I only had two stipulations. It had to be on a weekend and they couldn't dress me like a hooker. If I won the bet, then of course the same would apply to Kristin. So, do you want to know who won the bet? Let's just say the kids are very lucky to have a mom who is a very good sport! And the truth is out....Kristin is actually capable of being quiet when she wants to. The chicken suit idea came from Kristin and Christina's random acts of being a teenager while in Target one day. They were demonstrating the costume line available for purchase and then having complete strangers take their picture in the aisle. I'm sure glad I wasn't there! But now I'm wondering if it's the Bee costume they have in store for me. Hmmm....stay tuned.
