Kristin

I am getting a terribly late start to this day. I spent last night in the emergency room with Kristin. She had a friend bring her home early from the houseboat because she wasn't feeling very well. She was involved in a jet ski accident on monday that left her very sore and tired. By tuesday she was feeling nauseous and dizzy and the Motrin she had been taking wasn't helping her headache. She thought she just needed a good night's rest but finally by 10:00 last night she thought she should be seen by a doctor. After 3 sets of x-rays, 2 CT scans, a heart monitor, urine sample, and blood test we were finally able to leave there at 4:30 this morning with the knowledge that she had a concussion and severe ligament strain in her neck. We arrived back home about 5:30 this morning and went right to bed. I know the accident was a wake up call for her and as she described it to me I could sense how scared she was. The girls were going 69 mph in glassy water when a boat pulled out in front of them and the jet ski hit the wake sending both girls flying. A friend on another jet ski said they looked like rag dolls skipping across the water. Kristin said when she realized what had happened she looked around for her friend and saw her floating and she thought she was dead. She swam to her and was relieved to find her breathing. Both girls got their bearings back and began to count their blessings. They spent the next few hours resting until Kristin finally decided she should come home. Both girls are bruised up and Kristin has a concussion but it could have been far worse. She had quite the sense of humor in the emergency room and had me laughing so hard. As a precautionary they were treating her as though she had a broken neck. They put this rigid plastic collar on her that caused her a great deal more pain and discomfort, but in between bouts of crying and whining to go home she was hilarious. I am just so thankful to God that everything turned out alright. I will probably take a little siesta this afternoon. I will need all of my wits about me because we are going to my mother-in-law's house for the annual back-to-school dinner tonight.
