Reminiscing Pinecrest

The weekend is here. The boys left yesterday for their camping trip. They took the kayaks and enough food for an army so they should have a great time. This is a camping trip they have been planning for awhile in honor of one of them getting married so it has been dubbed Stephen's "bachelors party". It is really a great group of kids. I just cannot believe they have reached an age to consider marriage! They do grow up fast, but 20 seems a little young to me for this day. Of course everyone is praying for them and being very supportive. I need to think of something unique and crafty to put together for them. I will have fun with that. This is the first Summer we have not went to Pinecrest Lake Resort since the kids have been born (almost 21 years!) Just Dave and I went last Summer. Erik and Joanne came up for the day and Kristin could not make it at all. I think it would be nice if we just went up for the entire day and hiked around the lake, but as of yet we have not planned it. Pinecrest has always been a favorite family spot for us. It is a great place where you can just let your kids go and not worry too much about them. There is alot to do. They have a marina where they rent party boats, sailboats, paddle boats, etc. There is great fishing (little kids are sure to catch one!). The hike around the lake is about 3 miles and there are many beautiful things to see. Up until a year ago we had friends that met us up there every year but they have since moved to Kentucky. I have many good memories of the kids growing up through the different summers at Pinecrest. It will be interesting to see what fills that vacancy. I really think I have had the outdoors laid upon my heart. I have been thinking about volunteering some time at the San Luis Wildlife Refuge. This idea has been rolling around in my mind for some time. I looked into what is available, but I have yet to drive there and make a commitment. I think it would be fun. I get these ideas and then I hesitate because I am always unsure of the upcoming workload of school. I do have about 5 weeks until the Fall school semester begins and I would really love to make good use of that time. I just do not want to get involved with something and then not be able to follow through with it. There is no harm in checking it out, a little help can go a long way. Well I really need to water the flowers and take Lacey for a walk before it gets too hot. Her and I both need the exercise.
