Morning Thought

Ah, another beautiful California morning. The birds are chirping, the neighbors dog is howling. Oh well, he just doesn't like to be left alone. I can easily tune most things out. A talent I picked up when my children became so musically inquisitive. We have a music room which consists of a piano, drums, a bass, 4-5 guitars, a cello, a violin, a flute...I'm probably leaving something out but the point I am trying to make is that it gets quite loud at times. I truly do love it. What I like most is that my kids and their friends have something to do and I know where they are. They are all just about grown now and so the jam sessions are getting less frequent, but I am happy that music is an important part of their lives. Personally I cannot play one single instrument (something I have always regretted). I suppose it is never too late to learn, but for now I'll just enjoy the musical talent of others. My children tend to lean toward music that ministers to the Lord. In fact my son just stepped down from a year of leading the band in his college group at church. I think he felt it was time to grow in other areas. He plays the drums, the bass, the piano, and the guitars and is aspiring to learn the cello (someday). My daughter plays the guitar, the piano, the flute, and aspires toward learning the violin (someday). They both warm my heart in so many ways. I have been truly blessed with both of them. Now that I have boasted in my children, a feeling of appreciation has settled in my heart and I think that is a great way to start the day.
