Jim and Karen

Is it Thursday already? I really do think as the school schedule approaches, time speeds up. I feel a huge difference on the days I can't have quiet time. It's like I'm carrying around this big boulder that I can't get rid of. I really require time for observing and appreciating the little things, it just seems to make time move a little slower. Maybe I am being conditioned for the chaos of September. It was nice having Kristin around the house all day yesterday. She has good moments where she is happy (we've named this mood "Jared") and then she has moments where she doesn't feel very well. The doctor told us to expect radical mood swings (now she has an excuse - only for a couple of weeks though!) and even a temporary loss of memory. She seems to be doing ok. I keep a watchful eye on her. Last night we went to our annual back-to-school dinner where we also had to say goodbye to some very special friends that are moving away to Kentucky. She started not feeling well toward the end of the evening, but it was very noisy and kind of cramped for space so I can see why she just wanted to go home and lay down. Today should be just a little bit better and soon she will be back to her social self again. Yes, our dear friends Jim and Karen are moving to Kentucky to be with their kids and we are going to miss them. I am very excited for them to start this new chapter in their lives. They are retired and are looking forward to seeing that part of the country, buying a new house and being close to their grandson Noah. We just love them so much and wish them the best in their new adventure. If my kids moved to Kentucky I would do the same thing. There are very few people who cross our path that I can honestly say make an impact on our lives, but they have contributed vastly to each of us. My kids have an immeasurable amount of respect for them and I know they have treasured memories of Pinecrest summers and campfire talks that will stay with them forever. Well, sleeping beauty is stirring so I think I will see if she would like some breakfast.
