the forever dance
One of my friends shared this on FB and I think it is great! Watch the whole thing and then comment if you would do this or not. Would I? You betcha! (Kimberly, Cassie needs to consider doing this!)
What a wonderful way to begin a marriage.

a stitch in time...
I'm not sure if it's out of boredom or a streak of craftiness, but I've been feeling a l-i-t-t-l-e creative - which only happens once in a BLUE MOON - so imagine my delight at having finished these cute little pillows for Kristin's place. Guess what they're made from. Yep, placemats. Watch out Martha Stewart.

shopping for memories
Remember when these little cartoons used to be popular? Me too. They were during the days when I used to spend a lot of time at my aunt's house with my cousin Pam. She was fifteen and I was ten. I remember her pink frost lipstick and baby blue eyeshadow. I couldn't wait to be a teenager. She had daisy patches on her blue jeans and carried a leather purse with fringe on the bottom. Tomorrow is slotted for a "girl's day." We are off to explore our favorite antique shops and second-hand boutiques. It's strange to see the stuff from my childhood in antique stores. Bless Kristin's heart for her patience when the mere sight of an object sparks up a memory and she is forced to listen to me reminisce about it. How ironic is life when we throw something out and then hold it years later only to pine for the days it existed as our possession. Of course it's not really the object, but the carefree days of youth when the world was different, that we crave. There's nothing like an easy bake oven or all of its miniature-sized pans to remind me of the days when I discovered how hot a light bulb really does get.

what's your word?
Your Word is "Hope" |
You see life as an opportunity for learning, growth, and bringing out the best in others. No matter how bad things get, you always have at least a glimmer of optimism. You are accepting and forgiving. You encourage those who have wronged you to turn over a new leaf. And while there is a lot of ugliness in the world, you believe that almost no one is beyond redemption. |

honest scrap
I received this award from Annette and it is a fun activity to share some little HONEST tidbits about me...I didn't know how difficult it would be to come up with new stuff that I could just put out there...and it did prompt me to try to be efficient with space, because each entry by itself had the potential to be an entire post, but when I realized I was explaining myself...the thoughts behind the "scrap," I decided keeping it simple would suffice and I trust you will relate to some of them and need no further explanation. I am suppose to pass it on to seven others, but am more inclined to offer it as an activity for your enjoyment of thinking through the real you...so take it, be candid and maybe you will discover it was kind of fun!10 honest things about me:
- I’ve never dyed my hair, but I’ve been thinking about it. A few grey hairs are coming in…but I’m afraid I will botch it up and my hair will glow in the dark or something and then don’t you have to touch it up regularly? I have a hard enough time remembering to shave my legs.
- I have an obsession with my toilets being clean. I came from the old-fashioned fabric of feminine worth that if your toilets are clean and you can make gravy, then you are quite a gal…well, some times my gravy is lumpy, but the bigger challenge is in keeping my mouth shut when the boys are peeing at night without turning the lights on. Argh! How much effort does it really take to wipe the porcelain from misguided attempts? I will never go hunting with these guys.
- I hate to put gas in my car…I don’t like the smell and I think about all the germs on the pump handle. Yes, I may be a little OCD…and you should always get your water without lemons in restaurants…trust me.
- I’d kind of like to camp out one night with my homeless friends just to feel how cold they get…but I’m afraid I might like it.
- I wish I had had more children. My children have made parenting fun and I can’t really blame any of those grey hairs on them. It would be nice to have one screw up so I can justify the momentary lapses of sanity.
- When dirty t-shirts and stinky socks get thrown in the laundry wrong side out, that’s how they get put back after they are washed. I thought this would be a lesson in conscious effort…but I was wrong…pants are next.
- I am a hopeless romantic and a sucker for small children and cute animals. I get caught up in movies that sweep me off my feet (why can’t that be me?), I buy way too many Girl Scout cookies and yes, I buy one box just for me, and I refuse to look at the cute little puppies that people are giving away outside of the grocery store because the odds are I would have to go back inside to purchase dog food.
- I don’t like my nose to be pinched. For some reason this makes me instantly angry and this isn’t an emotion I experience very often…anger is highly over-rated, raises the blood pressure and compromises logic…but pinch my nose and I am transformed into someone I do not know.
- I love learning new words, they catch my eye and I am driven to look them up. Words are far more powerful than we give them credit. They can crush the human spirit or liberate the oppressed…there is a word for every thing, but the words we choose to store and use are a reflection of ourselves. Today’s word: benevolence.
- I drink way too much coffee, but this is where I get the energy to do the laundry, clean the house, feed the homeless, and fight off those who insist pinching my nose is fun. Good coffee, a box of Girl Scout cookies and a Ya Ya or two and I am perfectly content. Another cup?

what kind of coffee girl are you?
You Are a Plain Ole Cup of Joe |
But don't think plain - instead think, uncomplicated. You're a low maintenance kind of girl... who can hang with the guys. Down to earth, easy going, and fun! Yup, that's you: the friend everyone invites. And your dependable too. Both for a laugh and a sympathetic ear. |

click on 'I AM' to write your own poem...

I am quietly waiting
to know how many stars are in the sky
I hear butterflies whispering
I see peace hanging from the trees
I want love to conquer
I am quietly waiting
I pretend to hear only the good
I feel as though I am part of the wind
I touch the leaves and feel their tears
I worry that kindness will never be enough
I cry to know I will never see you again
I am quietly waiting
I understand what will be will be
I say give peace a chance
I dream a smile will melt the sun
I try to be happy even when I am sad
I hope children keep singing
I am quietly waiting
